On August 30 the crew of the round-the-world expedition visited the legendary sailing frigate “Shtandart”. Vladimir Martus, the frigate’s builder and captain, gave a friendly reception on the ship for a delegation of compatriots and Spanish traveler Alvaro de Marichalar.
The frigate Shtandart is an authentic replica of a warship built by Peter the Great in 1703 for the defense of St. Petersburg. It took 11 years (1989-2000) from the idea of the Shtandart replica to its launching. For 21 years, Shtandart seven round the globe and has been filmed in more than 15 historical films of Russian and foreign production.

On the deck of the ship Vladimir Martusya met travelers from Spain and Russia – Spanish traveler on aqua-bike Alvaro de Marichalar and Siberian circumnavigators represented by Eugene Kovalevskiy, Stanislav Berezkin and Yulia Kalyuzhnaya. The friendly meeting at the Standart was also attended by Juan Manuel Wijtez, the owner of yacht club, where the replica of Columbus’ famous Santa Maria is located, and Mario Cardamo, general director of Cardamo shipyard, where the Russian Ocean Way trimaran is being diagnosed and repaired. The Russian Honorary Consul in Galicia, Pedro Mourinho, traditionally took part in the event.
