As a part of the round-the-world expedition of the Tomsk branch of the RGS Russian Ocean Way Eugene Kovalevsky and Stanislav Berezkin present the route “Golden Ring of Siberia” (Discovering Siberia) around the world. Entering cities in different countries, travelers interview locals to find out what they think about Russia, Siberia and the possibility of traveling to these places.
As practice shows, foreigners know very little about Siberia: the cold, the snow, the vast territories. That is all. Eugene and Stanislav debunk popular myths and tell us that Siberia is not at all scary, but a very interesting, picturesque and hospitable place. Thus, the circumnavigation crew makes a mission of public diplomacy, finding friends and partners all over the world and inviting them to visit the route Golden Ring of Siberia (Discover Siberia).
“The tourist route Golden Ring of Siberia surprises and ignites a genuine interest among the guests of the trimaran and the participants of the crew meetings. Many Europeans do not even suspect that Siberia can be a tourist destination,” admitted the participants of the round-the-world expedition.
This grandiose tourist route covering 10 republics and regions of Siberia has been developed by members of Russian Geographical Society under the auspices of Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Vladimir Kotlyakov. Coordinator and head of the project is Yulia Kalyuzhnaya.
More than three dozen countries are ahead of the expedition, which means that even more people around the world will learn about Siberia and will want to come here to see places of power, learn about its history and culture and get a taste of Siberia.
