In the evening of July 15 (19:00 local time) the Russian Ocean Way arrived in Malmo, Sweden. Today, on July 16 at 15:00 (Tomsk time) Evgeny Kovalevsky got in touch with the Shore Staff and reported the last news:
Good morning, everyone. Today is July 16, 2021. Yesterday we arrived in the Swedish city of Malmö. We had planned to arrive in Copenhagen, but it did not work out due to various restrictions. Our colleagues from Denmark and Sweden coordinated our people diplomacy activities in Malmo. We were met in the marina by local Nicolas, head of the Swedish Society for Friendship with the Ukrainian, Belarusian and Russian peoples, compatriots Marina and Anton, Naila, Elena. Called Irina Ivanchenko from Denmark, that arrived. Marina roomy, a lot of boats. There was a restaurant near the boat landing. We started to come up at once, to ask questions. A man came up with the flag of the world, which we immediately hung up with Stas on the battens, showed us Uruguay, said that he was from Uruguay. The Swedes came up, approved of the trimaran, our route and us. All positive!
We went to stay with Marina and Anton, put the batteries and the gear on charge, took a shower. We went down to the yard, had dinner together, sang Russian songs. Nicholas listened with interest, he knows some songs.
Today is a technical day, we have to buy two pipes, tie them to stringers going along the outriggers. The stringers are flimsy and we’re worried they’ll break on a big wave. Nicholas, Irina Ivanchenko, Coast Staff headed by Yulia Kalyuzhnaya are preparing for the July 17 meeting and conference, which will be attended by the crew, representatives from Sweden, Denmark, the Coast Staff, a descendant of Krusenstern. We will talk about the expedition, discuss possible cooperation.
