As previously reported, on July 28, at 6 a.m. the crew arrived in the German city of Borkum. The crew spent the whole day examining the vessel and detecting malfunctions. On the trimaran, weld cracks were found on one of the stern torsion bars, as well as a completely torn off bow torsion bar that remained thanks to the springboard supporter. In addition, the crew reports that welds on both bow attachment of both outriggers needed repair.
A required type of welding (argon) turned out to be unavailable on a small island Borkum (the city population counts 5000 people). Natalya Ulrich, a new Russian-speaking friend of the crew, and her colleague Uv helped make an arrangement with a workshop in the city of Emden, which is easy to get to by ferry.
Today, July 29, Evgeny and Stanislav started for Emden to a workshop.
“Now the weather is bad, it’s storming at sea, that’s why we successfully got a ticker right before the ferry departs. The road takes 2 hours and a half,” said the travelers.
As stated by Evgeny Kovalevsky, waiting out a bad weather will last for two days.
All the latest information is reported to the Coastal Center.
