Trimaran «Russian Ocean Way» overlooked to the Atlantic Ocean on the evening of September 21. Major overhauls have been completed and a round-the-world expedition is heading from Spain to Portugal. Three participants joined the ship crew, which consists of the captain of the trimaran Stanislav Berezkin and the head of the expedition Evgeny Kovalevsky. Two of them are from Tomsk. The crew is scheduled to arrive in Lisbon by the end of this week.
Repair of the trimaran «Russian Ocean Way» lasted three weeks in the Spanish port of Vigo. At the moment, the repair is completed and the participants of the round-the-world expedition went further along the route.
Before sailing off, starting from the morning of September 21, preparatory work was carried out: the vessel was transfered from the hangar of the dock yard Kardama to the water, electrical equipment was installed, sleeping accommodations and household appliances were set up. The expedition consisting of five people left the coast of Vigo at 19: 40 local time.
The young crew member Dobrynya had the honor to keep the first watch in the ocean. The lucky guy quickly got his bearings under the guidance of the captain. Since the crew now includes five people, the duration of the watches has been reduced and totals not three, but two hours. The participants of the expedition will be able to rest longer, changing each other less often.
The trimaran moves along the coast of Portugal and goes through the city of Porto as of 9: 30 a.m. (Spanish time), as reported by travelers to the Coastal Center of the expedition. The night passed quite restlessly, the wind was fitful.
«We train new crew members to sit on watch – they do everything well. I was dispensed from cooking, now Alexey (a new member — Coastal Center) has entered upon duties. We have got over about 55 miles, there are about 170 left to Lisbon. If the wind does not change, we plan to sail tomorrow evening or on Friday morning», — Stanislav shared.
